ALSO , TOO and AS WELL (¿Cómo decir “también” de diferentes formas:)

ALSO = Subject + also +verb

TOO = At the end of the sentence

Examples:

I also visited Sao Paulo = I visited Sao Paulo, too.

Yo también visité Sao Paulo = Yo visité Sao Paulo, también.

She also plays the piano = She plays the piano, too.

Ella también toca el piano = Ella toca el piano también.

They also study medicine = They study medicine, too.

Ellas también estudian medicina = Ellas estudian medicina,también.

WE CAN USE ALSO IN THREE DIFFERENT POSITIONS : 

Podemos usar “also” en tres diferentes posiciones.

1)      “ALSO” BEFORE THE VERB

“Also” antes del verbo

I also speak French. (Yo también hablo Francés)

2)      AFTER MODALS (Can, could, Might, may, should)

I can also play the guitar . (Yo puedo también tocar la guitarra)

I can also speak Portuguese. (Yo puedo también hablar Portugues)

You can also come with us. (Tú puedes también venir con nosotros)

She can also go to the concert. (Ella puede también ir al concierto)

We can also go out for dinner. (Nosotros podemos también salir a cenar)

3)      “ALSO” after the verb to be

        I am an administrator, I am also a teacher.(Soy una administradora. Soy también una profesora)

  She is a good Singer, she is also a good dancer. (Ella es una buena cantante, ella es también una buena bailarina)

“ALSO” también puede ir delante de la oración, para dar énfasis y ello significará además:

I met Brad Pitt yesterday. Also he agreed to sign me an autograph.

Conoci a Brad Pitt ayer. Además el accedió a firmarme un autógrafo.

TOO and AS WELL for short answers: “too” y “as well” para respuestas cortas:

Me too = Yo también

I did as well = También lo hice.

Example:

A)      I watched the soccer game yesterday.

B)      Me too.

A)      Vi el partido de futbol ayer.

B)      Yo también

A)      I watched the soccer game yesterday.

B)      I did as well

A)      Vi el partido de futbol ayer.

B)      También lo hice.

Para expresar deseos para el prójimo, usamos “TOO”

A)      Well,see you later. Enjoy your dinner.

B)      Thanks, you enjoy yours, too.

A)      Bueno, nos vemos mas tarde. Disfruta tu cena.

B)      Gracias, disfruta la tuya, también.

Para saludos usamos TOO.

A)      Nice to meet you.

B)      Nice to meet you, too

A)      Gusto en conocerte

B)      Gusto en conocerte, también.

A)      It’s a pleasure to meet you.

B)      It’s a pleasure to meet you, too.

A)      Es un placer conocerte.

B)      Es un placer conocerte, también.

TOO & ENOUGH

TOO = Demasiado

When something is not satisfactory we’re going to use “TOO+ an adjective”.

Cuando algo no es satisfactorio vamos a utilizar “too+ un adjetivo”.

TOO indica “demasiado” pero en un sentido negativo.

ENOUGH = Suficiente

Para expresar que algo no es suficiente, lo utilizaremos en forma negativa

THOSE RUGS AREN’T BIG ENOUGH = Those rugs are too small.

Aquellas alfombras no son lo suficientemente grande = Aquellas alfombras son muy pequeñas.

We will use “an adjective + enough” when something is satisfactory.

Usamos “un adjetivo + enough” cuando algo es satisfactorio.

This cell pone is small enough, I’ll take it .

Este celular es lo suficientemente pequeño, lo llevo.

“TOO” is an intensifier. “TOO” expresses the idea that something is more tan enough.

“Too” es un intensificador. “Too” expresa la idea que algo es más que suficiente.

That restaurant is too expensive, I’m not going to eat there.

Ese restaurante es demasidado caro, no quiero comeré allí.

That movie is too long, I don’t want to see it.

Esa película es demasiado larga, no quiero verla.

Recuerden que no podemos utilizar “TOO” para referirnos a algo positivo, para ello hay otros intensificadores tales como “VERY”, “REALLY”, “SO” “PRETTY”.

She’s very nice. =Ella es muy linda.

The models are really beautiful. = Las modelos son realmente hermosas.
