ADJECTIVES - Adjetivos en Inglés

Un adjetivo es una palabra que nos sirve para describir al adjetivo.

Primero estudiemos algunos adjetivos opuestos:

NEW (Nuevo) – OLD (viejo)

DIRTY (Sucio) – CLEAN (limpio)

SHORT (BAJO) – TALL (Alto)

TIGHT (Apretado) – LOOSE (Suelto)

LIGHT (Claro) – DARK (oscuro)

EASY (fácil) – DIFFICULT (difícil)

BIG (Grande) – SMALL (Pequeño)

CUTE (lindo) – NASTY (repugnante)

HOT (caliente) – COLD (frio)

FAT (gordo) – THIN (delgado)

HARD (duro) – SOFT (suave)

SHY (timido) – FRIENDLY (amigable)

OPEN (abierto) – CLOSE (cerrado)

En inglés los adjetivos van delante del sustantivo al cual describen, por ejemplo:

A red skirt = Una falda roja

An old car = Un carro viejo

A modern cell pone = Un celular moderno

Los adjetivos NO se pluralizan en Inglés:

A White dress =Un vestido blanco

Two White dresses = Dos vestidos blancos

A big window = Una ventana grande

Three big Windows = Tres ventanas grandes

Los adjetivos no tienen masculino o femenino en Inglés:

A small table = Una mesa pequeña

A small watch = Un reloj pequeño

PREPOSITIONS OF PLACE (IN – ON – AT – BY)

IN :  We use the Preposition in to talk about:

Cities (ciudades) :

 I live in Lima.

Countries (países)

I work in Peru.

Enclosed spaces (lugares cerrados)

You always read in my bedroom.

Places with boundaries (Lugares con limites, bordes)

The kids play in the park.

The Cardinal Points:

In the North (en el norte)

In the South (en el sur)

In the East (en el este)

In the West (en el oeste)

AT: We use  the Preposition AT to talk about:

Address (Dirección)

I live at 245 Chicago Street

Events  (Eventos)

See you at the party!

Buildings (Edificios)

Mary is at the Police Station

With some specific expressions (Con algunas expresiones específicas)

At home

At school

At work

ON : We us the Preposition ON to talk about:

Floors: (pisos)

She is on the fifth floor

Streets (calles)

We live on Chicago Street

Means of transportation: (Medios de transporte)

On the bus

On the train

With some specific expressions: (Con algunas expresiones específicas)

On the Internet

On Youtube

BY : We use the preposition BY to talk about:

Something that is near (Algo que está cerca)

Put the bag by the table!
